High-end ISA-CAN bus Interface

CAN P16 interface

CANP16 ISA bus interface with two microprocessor controlled CAN networks

The W-Ie-Ne-R CANP16 interface card is designed for high speed control of one or two can-bus networks by an IBM at or compatible computer. Due to the on-board processor the can-bus access and data transfer can be realized independently from the computer CPU. Thus message rates of up to the theoretical maximum value of 20 kHz can be received and processed by the CANP16 card.

The CANP16 card is equipped with 256 kbyte on board RAM. The high speed data exchange with the computer CPU is performed via a 8 or 16 kbyte dual ported S-RAM with 16-bit width. The address range can be selected via jumper setting. For interrupt based applications the IRQ number can be fixed by jumper setting.

The connection to the physical bus is done with an opto-isolated transceiver with controlled rise and fall slope to reduce RFI and allow the use of unshielded cable. An additional protection is given by the over voltage shielding.
